Sarinbuana Eco Lodge

This award-winning ecolodge is situated at 700m, on the slopes of Mount Batukaru in central Bali, where you will be surrounded by a lush tropical “food forest” of organically grown cacao, coffee, vanilla and jungle fruits.
Sarinbuana Lodge is located 2 hours from Denpasar Airport, 1 ½ hours from Kuta and Ubud, and has spectacular views of the sea with the largest Rainforest in Bali just 5 minutes away!

Accommodation

This Mountain Eco lodge is ideal for nature lovers, with spectacular views, Rainforest, food-forest and rice paddy walks, mountain trekking and fresh mountain streams and waterfalls for swimming.
The Lodge is private and intimate with local staff and a maximum of 10 guests, perfect for a peaceful romantic get away, for families and for those who like to be immersed in nature.
Here you will stay in a beautiful bungalow, hand-crafted from natural materials, with balconies and beautiful views. Traditional local dishes are produced from the organic gardens.

Eco Policies

Eco-Design - The hand-crafted bungalows have been built using local sustainable material where possible. Local labour is used for furniture making.

Energy – Sarinbuana Eco-Lodge uses energy saving light bulbs to conserve energy.

Conservation – This eco-friendly lodge has actively lobbied the local community for 15 years, to preserve and value their natural resources.
The Lodge are currently working with the local community to establish “a no bird catching” policy and to raise US$25,000 through Seacology grants to benefit the local community. The eco lodge has also implemented the protection of 800 hectares of neighbouring rainforest (the largest natural rainforest and 1 of only 2 remaining in Bali), plants timber and fruit trees annually and plants “bird and butterfly-friendly” trees and shrubs.

Ecological sustainability – The Eco-Lodge’s organic gardens have over 80 edible food plants, and many more useful plants, which are used in the kitchen when preparing meals. Guests can take an informative guided tour around the garden, introducing some of the plants they will later be eating.
The Lodge recycles where possible – glass, cans and organic waste - and composts kitchen waste.
Sustainable waste water treatment systems are used for black and grey water and non toxic pesticides and fertilizers are used on the land. The Lodge uses Permaculture management principals on the land and was winner of the Wild Asia 2007 Award for Responsible Tourism.

Community – Sarinbuana Eco Lodge train local staff (from the village) on site to work at the lodge. The staff have been taught English skills, massage and guiding and are paid higher than the recommended government wage. Local spiritual and cultural beliefs are valued and respected.
Guests can directly experience the vibrant Hindu culture by attending frequent local ceremonies. Special dance performances can be arranged.

Things To See And Do

At the Lodge there are natural mountain swimming pools, fish ponds and extensive organic gardens to explore, or you could arrange for a massage.

The lodge can arrange a variety of scenic walks through local villages and Hindu temples, rice paddies and sustainable farms, as well as guided mountain rainforest treks, food forest walks where you can taste many exotic fruits and motor bike tours where you can see the beautiful, contoured rice paddies. There are also birds and monkeys to see or you could arrange a day trip to northern beaches or tourist shops.

There are also a range of cultural activities such as local Gamelan performances and workshops (choose from 27 cultural and social 1-2 hours workshops or discussions) or you could join local ceremonies. You could also take part in cooking your evening meal while learning some of the techniques of Balinese cooking.

Children are warmly welcomed and valued in this family oriented community. Children are able to reconnect with nature - walking in the rainforest and swimming in the clean mountain streams (toddlers should be supervised due to uneven terrain).

Room Description

Jungle House is a 2-storey bungalow, handcrafted from traditional materials and sleeping a maximum of 5 guests. The bungalow has 1 queen-size bed, 3 single beds, a balcony-dining area, lounge, mini bar, hot shower, western-style toilet and mosquito net.

Orchid House is a beautiful Balinese style bungalow with traditional wood carvings which sleeps a maximum of 2 people. From this bungalow you will have sunrise and mountain views, a queen-size bed with mosquito net, a lounge room, a dining area, a balcony, an orchid garden bathroom, hot shower and garden sitting area.

Rumah Manis is a very private, lovely bungalow immersed in the tropical garden, sleeping a maximum of 2 (extra bed available for a child). The bungalow has spectacular views down the valley to Southern Bali and has 1 queen-size bed with mosquito net, a balcony, sunroom/dining area and a garden bathroom with hot shower.

Prices & Booking Policies

Prices and inclusions: Prices in the Orchid House and Rumah Manis are Rp.1million (approx £55) per night for 1 or 2 people sharing.
Prices in the Jungle House are Rp.1million (approx £55) per night for 1 or 2 people sharing.
Prices include breakfast and drinking water but do not include government taxes of 10% or a service charge of 5%.
Child prices: Infants aged 0-5 years old go free. For children aged 6+ the price is the same as the adult prices. Jungle House can sleep up to 5 people.
Extra adult prices: The Jungle House can take up to 5 people. For 3 or 4 people staying in the Jungle House there is a supplement of Rp.200,000 (approx £11) per night in addition to the rates described above. For a 5th person there is an additional charge of Rp.180,000 (approx £10) per night.
Special offers: Guests staying for 5 nights or more will receive a 10% discount!
Check-in / Check-out times: Midday
Opening dates: Sarinbuana Eco-Lodge is open all year round. Bookings are currently being taken until 30th April 2009.
Restrictions: Bookings must be made for a minimum of 2 nights.
Deposit: A deposit to the value of 10% of your accommodation booking is required to secure your room. You will be invoiced for this deposit by ecobookers, on behalf of Sarinbuana Lodge. The deposit can be paid with PayPal, debit card or credit card. Your booking will not be fully confirmed until this deposit has been received.
Cancellation policy: In case of cancellation, the 10% booking deposit is non-refundable.
Payment methods: Payment should be made in cash on departure. There are no credit card facilities or ATM cash points at the lodge. Local currency is preferred.

Getting There And Around

The nearest airport to Sarinbuana Eco Lodge is Denpasar. The Lodge is located approximately 2 hours from the airport. An airport pick up / drop off service is available at Rp 300,000 per person each way.
